[EVENT RECAP] Boston Calling Music Festival
On May 25th and 26th, fans gathered at City Hall Plaza in Boston to see a variety of popular acts in the indie music scene. Performers at this summer’s Boston Calling Music Festival included Andrew Bird, the Dirty Projectors, Matt and Kim, Fun., Of Monsters and Men, The Shins and more.
Mountain Productions set up a main stage with a 50′ x 36′ Hercules Roof grid. The stage was finished with custom softgoods on the sound wings and roof header. A unique application of the sound wing scrims allows for a bottom interchangeable panel to be replaced for future uses. Mountain also provided a scaffold FOH, 2 video supports and crowd control barricade.
1 week. 30+ events.
The beginning of the summer is always a jam packed season for Mountain Productions, full of college commencement setups and outdoor festivals. This year was as busy as ever, with a wide variety of events going on at once. During the week of May 13th, Mountain was involved in over 30 events, almost half of which featured hydraulic, mobile autostages. By the time the week was planned out, there wasn’t a mobile stage to spare. The variety in size and rigging capability makes Mountain’s line of mobile stages a popular choice in the summer. They are adaptable enough to work for graduation stages, side concert stages and main festival stages.
[EVENT RECAP] Graduation at the University of Massachusetts
Summer is the season that most of us wait for all year. Warm weather, trips to the beach, summer festivals and more are all highlights of the summer months. Many students enjoy the time off before returning to class in the fall, but each year, college seniors prepare for a major milestone in their lives: graduation.
Graduations and commencements celebrate years of hard work and commitment, and the presentation of the event can create a memorable day that families will always remember.

Brand New, Big Boi, and MGMT are a few of the musical artists who performed at the event.

[EVENT RECAP] Making History at Penn Park
Mountain Productions was proud to assist the University of Pennsylvania in their celebratory event of the Making History campaign. The ambitious campaign was a great success, raising (literally) billions of dollars through generous alumni donations, dedicated volunteer work, and support from tens of thousands of organizations. To celebrate, U Penn planned an event which included student performances, food, fireworks and high profile entertainment acts (John Legend headlined the show with Train as the opening act).
Motion Labs integrates Surge Suppression Technology
Greg Quinkert from Motion Labs discusses their Surge Suppression Technology:

Surge Suppression Technology from Motion Labs
Digital and LED technology is sensitive to transient voltage (or spikes and surges). Each generation of microcircuit chips becomes faster, smaller and more densely populated. This technological progress comes with tremendous risks, as these new designs are less tolerant of small electrical disruptions, and are more susceptible to damage. Computer technology has evolved, and we rely more and more on this technology in our jobs. Disruptions in equipment can be extremely inconvenient and set back an entire workflow.
[STAGING SPOTLIGHT] NEW! – SL-260 Mobile Autostage now available
Mountain Productions is excited to announce the addition of the SL-260 mobile autostage to our fleet.
The SL-260 is another top quality mobile stage that is very similar to the SL-250, but with increased rigging capabilities. The 260 offers a higher trim (20′ from the deck) and an optional extended upstage area. With the added space, the deck size is increased to 32′ x 32′ at full height. The stage left and right sound points are rated at 2,000 lbs each, double the capacity of the SL-250.
[EVENT RECAP] Ultra Music Festival 2013
The electronic dance music scene is more popular than ever these days. The pulsating bass driven beats are often complimented live with impressive visual productions, including hundreds to thousands of lights, special effects and more. The staging for such events has become enormous in every way imaginable. One festival in particular is always pushing the limits on its artistic production. It has become one of North America’s largest electronic dance festivals, and it turns Miami into a head banging, body moving, “lose-your-voice” mania. It is the Ultra Music Festival.
