Mountain Productions’ 2014 CM Hoist School

We’d like to thank everyone who attended our 29th Annual CM Hoist School, as well as our vendors and seminar leaders. This was the first year that the Hoist School was extended to 5 full days, and students were treated to extended rigging and motor classes taught by CM’s Dave Carmack and ETCP certified rigger, Eric Rouse.

Other seminars included a truss class led by James Thomas Engineering’s Tray Allen, a seminar covering slings with Spanset’s Jeff Wallace, and education in motor control and load monitoring with Motion Laboratories’ Mike Webb. Below are a few pictures from Hoist School week. If anyone who attended has pictures they would like to share, please post them in a comment to this blog or to our Facebook page. (www.facebook.com/mountainproductionsinc) We’d love to see them!

A Refreshing Scaffold Seminar

Consistency (among many other things) helps maintain long, successful relationships. You know that you have a solid partner when you can count on them to deliver the results you expect, time after time again. One of the best ways to maintain consistently good performance and exceptional service is to practice. We’ve all heard it before: “Practice makes perfect.” And I’m sure we can all attest to the truth in this statement. Considering the dynamic nature of our industry’s codes and regulations, coupled with the precise and rugged work required, it’s crucial to freshen up and review the basics throughout the year.

[EVENT RECAP & Q+A] Interview with Red Peg’s Martin Codd – Building innovative, multi-purpose exhibits

It’s apparent that we are no longer in a time when interested customers are guided through the sales cycle solely by a company salesman. The internet has become one of the main sources of information that customers have embraced, finding answers, researching competitors, and brainstorming new solutions all on their own. From a vendor standpoint, this makes it imperative to understand clients’ needs, and to be able to merge what is expected and what is possible. Simply put, the focus now is on service, and our industry is no stranger to this.

[EVENT RECAP] Behind the Scenes: Verizon’s Power House

The Big Game just keeps getting bigger each year. With the latest technology, interactive experiences and hi-definition coverage, the Super Bowl hype spans much farther than just game day. Happy New Year!

Our industry has seen yet another impressive year, with new technology and unique approaches to festivals, concerts and events. Grand structures standing as tall as multi-story buildings and as wide as a football field have become the norm nowadays, as well as the continued (and customized) use of mobile staging. Elaborate video displays and lighting arrangements are present at almost every festival. Event planners and promoters have also become more streamlined in the digital age that we live in, finding answers online through shared content, blogs and social media. What has not changed however, is the work ethic and dedication of the crews behind every show and event that takes place. Excuse the cliché, but we wouldn’t be here without them.

[EVENT RECAP] Thanksgiving NFL Halftime Show – Lions vs. Packers

Thanksgiving for most Americans can probably be summed up in 3 words beginning with the letter “F”: Family, Food and Football. Last year, roughly 28 million people turned on the tube to watch the Thanksgiving Day Redskins/Cowboys matchup, making it last fall’s most-watched television show! I’m sure many of us took a tryptophan-time-out this year as well to watch the game. Mountain Productions was behind the scenes building the rolling stage for the halftime show at the Packers/Lions game on Thanksgiving this year.
