What better place is there to stage a product reveal than in the heart of one of the busiest cities in the US? Shell announced its new premium formula, V-Power NiTRO+ in Times Square this past Tuesday. As the kickoff to what Shell is calling its largest fuel campaign in North America, this promotional event introduced the new product in style, with a vintage and exotic car display and interactive games for attendees to participate in.

11 Commencements. 18 Shows. 1 Week.
The month of May is a much-anticipated time of the year for us. Our staff has been hard at work the weeks leading up to May, preparing for the busiest month of our season. Within one week, Mountain Productions traveled near and far, setting up staging for over 30 events including a number of commencements as well as multiple concerts and festival setups. Here are some of the staging structures that we built over the last week:
Commencements
University of Pennsylvania
The University of Pennsylvania continued its commencement staging tradition with an iconic canopy stage with scaffold back walls, adorned with custom printed softgoods. Mountain Productions has been involved with UPenn’s graduation ceremony for many years. We also built an indoor staging system for UPenn’s Wharton School as seen below.
Unmatched Comfort & Protection: Mountain Productions Now Distributing KASK Helmets
A hard hat is a mandatory safety product that, no question, saves lives. But just because they are an industry wide priority doesn’t mean that all helmets are comfortable and optimized for the user’s protection. Our crews wear them all day; shouldn’t they invest in a hard hat that will keep them concentrated on their work, and not the comfort of their equipment? Mountain Productions is proud to announce that we are now distributing KASK Super Plasma and Hi-Vis Super Plasma helmets.
Designed specifically for working at heights, KASK’s Super Plasma helmets are lightweight, tough, and extremely comfortable thanks to quick drying fabric, 10 points of air ventilation, and an innovative adjustment system for easy, yet precise fitting.
[STAGING SPOTLIGHT] 3 Groundcover Products Designed with your Turf in Mind
Often, our stages and equipment are built on well-kept fields and turf that needs to be protected during an event. Not to mention all of the forklifts and vehicles that need to drive around an event site that could potentially damage the ground it travels on. Situations like this require proper flooring and ground cover. Mountain Productions stocks a variety of ground cover options from Terraplas USA, a company dedicated to creating products that protect your turf. Here are 3 of the flooring products that we commonly use, along with the features that separate them from the competition:
Mountain Productions Now Distributing Python Safety Products
We are proud to announce another new addition to our fall protection inventory: Python Safety’s drop prevention products. Recently acquired by DBI-SALA, Python Safety’s mission is simply put: to prevent dropped tools and equipment. Dropped objects represent the 3rd highest cause of death in the workplace. In order to address this staggering statistic, Python Safety shifted its focus on engineering high quality products designed to not only protect yourself, but also everybody else around you.
The Python Safety brand consists of a variety of drop prevention products, including attachment points that do not deface or modify a tool, tool pouches, spill control buckets, tool belts and holsters, tethers, and more. Many of these products work with each other to deliver a comprehensive package that eliminates accidents involving dropped equipment.
[EVENT RECAP] 2015 Carolina Rebellion
Mountain Productions took a trip to Rock City Campgrounds at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina to set up multiple structures for the Carolina Rebellion rock festival. Rebellion kicked off on May 1st and featured 2 nights of hard rock heavy hitters, such as Marilyn Manson, Korn, Slipknot, Slayer and more. This is Mountain’s second year with the festival.
[EVENT RECAP] Turning your ideas into reality — Mountain Productions at the Met Gala
It’s deemed as one of fashion’s biggest nights. The 2015 Met Gala featured a guest list containing house hold names such as George Clooney, Rhianna, Kelly Slater, Kanye West and many more. This year’s event celebrated the museum’s “China: Through The Looking Glass” exhibition with guests sporting extravagant outfits to match. Mountain Productions is proud to have been involved with this event, providing the understructure to a 35′ tall chinoiserie vase that marked the entrance to the Met Gala.
3 Topics to Consider when Planning/Upgrading a Rigging Installation
Planning a full rigging installation is not your everyday project. Period. Whether in an arena, theater, house of worship, or any other venue, there are always challenges to overcome and hours of due diligence to make sure that you’re getting the most out of your budget.
An installation is comprised of many parts, and also requires the skilled technicians to maintain it and the proper safety equipment integrated into the system. The foundation of any install lies in quality equipment, which is why we rely on CM and Motion Laboratories’ products.
Building a Safety Culture – Mountain Productions’ 2015 Safety Training
Each year, Mountain Productions‘ road personnel attend a 3-day company training to plan and prepare for the season. It’s a great kickoff to another busy year and helps our crew refresh and stay up to date with safe work practices. As our company continues to grow, we make sure that all of our crew is on the same page and engage in training to maintain our high quality standards.
The first 2 days of this year’s training included topics such as on-site safety protocol, weather planning, and scaffold building. Safety starts the minute you clock in, and on-site safety practices are the foundation of a dedicated mentality that is carried to each of your events.
Pioneering Total Height Safety – The Limpet® System
We’re always excited to share new tips, techniques, and products that further our industry’s level of safety. We strive to raise the bar on safety precautions and training to ensure that all of our jobs are conducted in a safe manner, especially since most of our jobs demand our crew to work at heights requiring fall protection. There’s a lot to think about when your head’s above the clouds, but wondering if you are properly secured in the event of an accident shouldn’t be running through your mind. Peace of mind starts with a quality, dependable height safety system.
