Mountain Productions is helping DC’s oldest neighborhood shine this season by collaborating on an outdoor public light art installation for the 2017 Georgetown GLOW.
Running until January 7th, Georgetown GLOW invites visitors to re-imagine the season of light through outdoor public art. Mountain Productions was called upon by the Georgetown Business Improvement District to help bring French artist, Géraud Périole’s, “Open Lounge” to life.
The “Open Lounge” installation transforms Cady’s Alley in Georgetown’s Design District into the ballroom of a palace, offering the starry sky as the ceiling. This piece is designed with 20 handcrafted chandeliers which were hung and wired by Mountain Productions.
To bring the critically-acclaimed work of Périole to life, Mountain Productions designed and fabricated custom brackets and wiring for the chandeliers. Our dedicated rigging experts then hung these 20 chandeliers safely and strategically without jeopardizing the artistic design of “Open Lounge”.
French artist Géraud Périole is among nine international artists showcasing commissioned light-art works during the fourth edition of the Georgetown GLOW exhibition in Georgetown, DC. Works will be lit from 5pm–10pm nightly from Friday, December 8 through Sunday, January 7, with a free Curator’s Audio Tour set to music that will be available on the Georgetown GLOW website.
In addition to the light works, GLOW 2017 programming includes a Silent Disco, GLOW All Night merchant shopping night, and Book Hill Winter Wonderland event.
Mountain Productions’ rigging department enjoys working on all types of specialty projects. Our expertise extends into high-profile events across the Art, Fashion, Corporate and Sports industries. For more information, visit MountainProductions.com.
