It may be December, but things definitely got heated on the shores of South Florida this past weekend for the 2017 Riptide Music Festival.
Mountain Productions built this year’s beautiful stages on the Fort Lauderdale beach, lending our structures and event production expertise to bring thousands of fans the best Alternative and Throwback jam experience.
Saturday, Dec. 3rd brought an alternative music invasion. Cage the Elephant, Weezer and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness brought the headlining jams, rounding out a great year of music festivals for alt fans everywhere.
Iration even played a set at this year’s Riptide Fest – a welcome treat for reggae rock fans, as they promote their new song “Fly With Me”. The day, celebrated as “Sharkwrecked”, left fans ready for 104.3 The Shark and 790 The Ticket to announce next year’s event.
On Sunday, Dec. 4th, Riptide Fest threw it back to the old days for The World’s Largest Beach Party, featuring the likes of KC & The Sunshine Band, Boyz II Men, Salt-N-Pepa and Lou Gramm, the founding member of Foreigner. It may have been a minute, but the crowd didn’t seem to forget a single word as they sang along and danced to the songs of yesteryear. 102.7 The Beach and 101.5 Lite FM brought all of the hits at this year’s event.
The festival also offered a food court, vendors, a live-art exhibit, a wine garden and a sports bar.
With the energy that comes from the likes of Cage the Elephant’s Matt and Brad Schultz, Riptide Music Festival needed a stage large enough to match. Mountain Productions built our Hercules Roof Grid System, an industry standard for more than 25 years, standing at a massive 60 feet wide, to boast as the main stage for this year’s event.
With weather protectection and windwalls donning the Riptide signature graphics, there was no mistake that you were at the premier event and in front of a premier main stage.
The secondary Underground stage was a 24′ by 20′ levi stage with roof and wings. Great music and positive vibes filled the Underground Village, with sets from Iration and Lime and DJ Immortal keeping the crowd going throughout the weekend.
Mountain also provided a number of our ancillary structures for the 2nd Annual Riptide Music Festival. Among these, Mountain was happy to provide a full Front of House structure with a retractable roof and rear spot platform and 700 feet of freestanding barricade, ADA platforms and Terratrak flooring, the VIP of groundcover.
Though Riptide Music Festival is still a relatively new experience, we predict that this music festival will live on, continuing to build upon their reputation as the hottest Florida festival north of Miami. As the sun sets in the Sunshine State, our Southwestern Florida staging fleet stands ready for any event, big or small.
