Another great event that took place on the first of the year was a Philadelphia tradition: the Mummer’s Parade.
The parade is not only a celebration of the New Year, but a competitive event that is taken very serious by Philadelphia natives. The Mummer’s tradition has roots in Roman history, where laborers would wear masks and march throughout the day. Now, Philadelphia residents take part in various contests and competitions involving elaborate costumes and moveable scenery. Visit the Mummer’s Parade website to learn more.

Mountain Productions provided seating and the judges’ platform for this exciting parade. A bleacher system was installed for public seating.
