With more evidence that the Mayan prediction of the “end of the world” is quite inaccurate and misinterpreted (rolls eyes), we anticipate and are preparing for another great year of concerts, festivals, political rallies, college commencements and more! 2012 proved to be a busy year for Mountain Productions, full of a variety of events of all sizes and covering a wide array of industries.
In the past few weeks, Mountain has been in the holiday spirit, setting up festive events such as the National Christmas Tree Lighting at Washington DC and the Jingle Ball at Sunrise, Florida. As we get closer to the end of December, Mountain is preparing for an event that is watched by millions of people across the globe: The New Year’s Eve Celebration at Times Square, New York.

For the past 15 years, Mountain has been providing staging for the New Year’s Eve event. Specifically, Mountain provides the main press camera platform for the world-wide press, the Mayor’s Stage where the Grand Marshal pushes the button to start the famous countdown / ball drop, and the Countdown Stage. The Countdown Stage has featured major talent acts over the years, including Third Eye Blind, Boyz II Men, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and last year, Lady Gaga. Also provided is the Times Square platform for the New York City host of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve”, famously hosted for years by Dick Clark and recently Ryan Seacrest. To haul all of the equipment needed for the event, Mountain packs four 48′ flatbeds of gear.

The New Year’s Eve celebration has a rich history, dating back to 1973, with members of Three Dog Night hosting the event. The televised special is historically one of the most viewed programs covering the New Year. Mountain is very grateful and proud to play a part in this iconic event.
